Most farm insurance companies that insure beekeepers do not offer coverage for the bees. Only for the hives/boxes, materials and supplies. The good news is, there is at least one reputable carrier that does offer coverage for the bees themselves. The bad news? I find that 99% of beekeepers are insured with companies that do not offer coverage for bees.

Liability Coverage

“The non-commercial beekeeper selling at farm markets should be certain to (at least) have general liability coverage that provides third party liability coverage for their premise and for bodily injury caused by the use of their product. An example of premise liability would be someone falling in your booth and getting injured. This coverage could even apply if someone gets close to your hives and gets stung.

Product coverage (can be included as a part of general liability) provides coverage for claims against you as a result of the use or consumption of your product. Examples might include someone having a reaction to a balm you sold or someone getting sick after consuming your honey. Do not count on your homeowner policy to provide this coverage.”
